 The First Luminous Mystery – The Baptism in the Jordan

Our Father

  1.        John the Baptist said, “I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord,’ as the prophet Isaiah

said.” (Jn 1:23) Hail Mary

2.        And John preached, saying, “After me comes he who is mightier than I, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie.” (Mk 1:7) Hail Mary

3.        “I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.” (Mt 3:11) Hail Mary

4.        John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (Jn 1:29) Hail Mary

5.        Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. (Mt 3:13) Hail Mary

6.        John would have prevented him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” (Mt 3:14) Hail Mary

7.        But Jesus answered him, “Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented. (Mt 3:15) Hail Mary

8.        And when Jesus was baptized, he went up immediately from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened… (Mt 3:16) Hail Mary

9.        and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. (Mt 3:16) Hail Mary

10.    And behold, a voice from heaven, saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” (Mt 3:17) Hail Mary

The Second Luminous Mystery – The Wedding Feast at Cana

 

Our Father

 

1.        There was a marriage at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. (Jn 2:1) Hail Mary

2.        Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding.  (Jn 2:2) Hail Mary

3.        When the wine ran short, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.” (Jn 2:3) Hail Mary

4.        And Jesus said to her,  “Woman, how does your concern affect me?  My hour has not yet come.”

(Jn 2:4)   Hail Mary

5.        His mother said to the servers, “Do whatever he tells you.” (Jn 2:5) Hail Mary

6.        Now six stone jars were standing there, for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons. (Jn 2:6) Hail Mary

7.        Jesus said to them, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them to the brim. (Jn 2:7) Hail Mary

8.        He said to them, “Now draw some out, and take it to the steward of the feast.” (Jn 2:8) Hail Mary

9.        And the steward of the feast said to the bridegroom, “Everyone serves the good wine first; and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine; but you have kept the good wine until now.” (Jn 2:10) Hail Mary

10.    This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him. (Jn 2:11) Hail Mary

The Third Luminous Mystery – The Proclamation of the Kingdom


Our Father

 

1.        Jesus said, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

(Mk 1:15) Hail Mary

2.         “The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in a field, which a person finds and hides again, and out of joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.”  (Matt 13:44) Hail Mary

3.         “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls. When he finds a single pearl of great price, he goes and sells all that he has and buys it.” (Matt 13:45-46) Hail Mary

4.        “Amen I say to you, unless you turn and become like little children you will not enter into the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt 18:3) Hail Mary

5.        “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and decay destroy, and thieves break in and steal.  But store up treasures in heaven…For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.” (Matt 6:19-21) Hail Mary

6.         “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.” (Matt 5:3) Hail Mary

7.        Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. (Matt 5:6) Hail Mary

8.        “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.” (Matt 5:7) Hail Mary

9.        Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. (Matt 5:9) Hail Mary

10.    “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat [or drink], or about your body, what you will wear….But seek first the kingdom [of God] and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides.”  (Matt 5:25,33)  Hail Mary

The Fourth Luminous Mystery – The Transfiguration of our Lord


Our Father

 

1.        Now about eight days after these saying Jesus took with him Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. (Lk 9:28) Hail Mary

2.        And Jesus was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his garments became white as light (Mt 17:2) Hail Mary

3.        And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him (Mt 17:3) Hail Mary

4.        Moses and Elijah . . . spoke of Jesus’ exodus that he was to accomplish in Jerusalem. (Lk 9:31) Hail Mary

5.        And Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is well that we are here; if you wish, I will make three booths here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” (Mt 17:4) Hail Mary

6.        As Peter said this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. (Lk 9:34) Hail Mary

7.        And a voice came out of the cloud, “This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him!” (Lk 9:35) Hail Mary

8.        And suddenly looking around they no longer saw any one with them but Jesus only. (Mk 9:8) Hail Mary

9.        And as they were coming down the mountain, Jesus charged them to tell no one what they had seen, until the Son of man should have risen from the dead. (Mk 9:9) Hail Mary

10.    So they kept the matter to themselves, questioning what the rising from the dead meant. (Mk 9:10) Hail Mary

The Fifth Luminous Mystery – The Last Supper, when our Lord gave us the Eucharist


Our Father

 

1.        Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” (Mt 26:26) Hail Mary

2.        And he took a chalice, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you; for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” (Mt 26:27-28) Hail Mary

3.        For as often as you eat this bread and drink the chalice, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

(1 Cor 11:26) Hail Mary

4.        They urged him, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them. And it happened that, while he was with them at table, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them. With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him, but he vanished from their sight. (Lk 24:29-31)  Hail Mary

5.        Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.” (Jn 6:35)  Hail Mary

6.        “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.” (Jn 6:51)  Hail Mary

7.        “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. (Jn 6:53)  Hail Mary

8.        “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.” (Jn 6:54)  Hail Mary

9.        “For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.” (Jn 6:55)  Hail Mary

10.    “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.” (Jn 6:56)  Hail Mary
