Parish School of Religion

St. Mary PSR – Parish School of Religion

PSR is an opportunity for a weekly religion class for students who attend public schools. Class is on Sundays from 8:55-9:55 a.m.  PSR is a two part program comprised of Sunday Mass prior to or following class. To register for PSR contact the parish office at 419-943-2952.

RCIA - Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

The RCIA is a process used to assist persons who are seeking to grow closer to Christ in the Catholic Church.  It is a journey that an inquirer who has never been baptized in any church embarks on that allows them to understand what the Gospel message of Jesus Christ is, what the Catholic Church teaches, the what’s and why’s of how Catholic worship.  Along the journey inquirers meet Catholics and hear about their faith journeys and how they have been supported by the Christian community in their walk with Christ.  The inquirer is supported by the assistance of a sponsor.  This journey culminates at the Easter vigil with the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.

Persons who have been baptized in another Christian church and who desire to come into full communion with the Catholic Church and persons who were baptized Catholic but never had the opportunity to receive all the sacraments of initiation are welcome to join in aspects of this process.

To speak with a staff member about your faith journey and how you can learn more about the Catholic Church call the parish office at 419-943-2952.

Preparation for 1st Reconciliation

We celebrate the Eucharist each Sunday because Christ asks us to gather, to remember all that He did for us and in that remembering He is made physically present to us in the consecrated bread and wine that have become His Body and Blood.  This is the food that causes eternal life to already live within us and strengthens us to live our Christian journey with Christ.  This privilege that we have is extended to our children once they have reached the age of reason.  If you have a child who is in the second grade or older and has not yet made their First Holy Communion, consider joining in the First Communion preparation.

Preparation for 1st Communion

First Communion will be celebrated on May 7, 2022 during the 10:00 a.m. Mass. The children are currently attending classes either at St. Mary School or in PSR. Additionally there are two meetings of the parents and children and following these are activities that are to be done together to help prepare their hearts for the day when they will receive Jesus in the Eucharist and will help their understanding of the Eucharist to grow.

Preparation for Confirmation has begun.  Classroom instruction is a component of the preparation and this is being done through St. Mary School and the PSR program.  It is a two year preparation. In the second year, candidates will be working with their parents and sponsors throughout the year.  The next celebration of Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated in September 2023.
